Kernel maintenance
Initial update provided by Ben H. about Spectre and Meltdown.
https://lists.cip-project.org/pipermail/cip-dev/2018-January/000796.html
Patch review of 4.4 LTS and security patches. New CIP kernel to be released this week, if everything goes as expected.
Mitigation patches for arm64
Both compiler changes and kernel changes needed.
We do not have the right contact for the compiler at this point.
Ben H. question if ARM64 is in the scope of CIP at this point
Question from Yoshi: are there mitigations for the x_86 32 bit support
Ben H.: nt at this point
Jan: there are rumours about somebody working on it. It will take time. This is a use case interesting for CIP.
CIP RT kernel
Question from Agustin B.: is there any specific impact on the -rt kernel related with Meltdown?
Ben H. not that Debian has experience in the 4.9 -rt kernel.
Jan: no conflict between the backported patches to 4.4 and the -rt kernel.
CIP Testing and KernelCI
B@D being updated to new kernelci version:
#139
